There was a shorthand due to our hometown experiences, which, while geographically separate, were culturally similar-Kate born and raised a wild and feral child, like the heroine in Backwater, in East Texas, and me in the Mississippi Delta...both regions pockmarked with areas of severe economic depression but covered by wild countryside where the farmland ended.
